My room at Dagasoul had shutters that kept the room dark and helped me sleep late in to the morning. I woke to see I had a Watsapp from Liisa to say she was hitching her way over now from the Yogi’s Hippy Farm and she would be here in an hour or so.
She arrived safe and sound and we padded in to town. Liisa was short on funds and needed to do some busking, but the town was sleepy and there just wasn’t many people around to hear the gull.
I left her to play a few more songs and returned to our hostel paradise to prepare a meal and take my place on the sofa in front of the roaring wood-burner. I got chatting with the owner, Celso, and he told me that his wife Sofia and him had rented this place and opened it as a hostel recently, last July, and he was surprised at how successful it was already. I am not. This place is awesome. There are nice little touches everywhere to make you feel at home and trusted, there’s soft, fluffy bedding and towels, a free washing machine, a fabulously equipped kitchen, (utensils and spices!) candles burning, toiletries, funky lighting, an ‘honesty’ bar, and best of all, a roaring fire kept burning through until the early hours.

An Italian guy, Julio, arrived looking for a bed for the night. He had walked the French route to Santiago, starting Le Puy, and was now following the Vicentina trail down the coast of Portugal and headed for Malaga.
Liisa booked a flight to Estonia back when she was in B’ham for the 22nd Jan. to go on a second date with a guy! Now that is tomorrow but according to this blog it’s not, so either I’ve lost a day or I’m wrong about the date of her flight… I think I lost a day… 🙂 Anyways, Liisa has ummed and ahhed about catching this flight for the past couple of weeks, but she has decided to take it. It is at 16:10 tomorrow and she will wake early and hitch to Lisbon Airport. She plans to be back in 5 or 6 days so I will chill here in this warm and welcoming sanctuary for a while, and mind Martin the guitar.
I just checked. It is the 21st January today. I lost a day but I don’t know where…. 🙂 At least I did’t lose anything else, like my jumper!! 🙂
I’ve got plenty of days but only two jumpers…
